Continue ShoppingKelly Williams began sewing at age nine on her mother’s BERNINA 1230—and hasn’t looked back since. As a young sewist, she was featured in Threads and Sew Beautiful magazines and won JoAnn’s national “Sew Your Own Prom Dress” Grand Prize. She holds a degree in Fashion Design from Kent State University, where she interned with Simplicity Pattern Company and Vera Wang Luxe. During college, she also worked in alterations at David’s Bridal. After graduation, Kelly spent a decade in the corporate fashion industry at Express, working in quality management and technical design. There, she honed her skills in garment fitting, pattern adjustments, and production standards. She later joined Hoffman Media as the Assistant Editorial Director of Classic Sewing magazine, where she designed patterns, developed and edited instructional content, taught at the Original Sewing & Quilting Expo and Martha Pullen Licensing events, and created multiple online sewing courses.
Kelly is known for her approachable, encouraging teaching style and deep technical knowledge. Through her growing social media platforms and YouTube channel, she inspires fellow sewists by sharing tutorials on heirloom sewing, garment construction, and machine embroidery—primarily focused on creating for women and children.
She is married to her husband, Marcus, and is a proud mom to two young boys. Much of her sewing today is devoted to creating timeless garments for herself and her sons. Kelly is passionate about helping others learn to sew with confidence. She brings energy, clarity, and enthusiasm to every class and loves assisting sewists of all levels to build their skills and leave inspired to create.
